NYC Marathon lottery and Indicators

I didn’t get selected in NYC Marathon lottery, but it’s just as well… I’ll come up with a different excuse to visit the city later this year.

I almost got hit by a police car on my run this morning - he turned right without flicking on an indicator and was looking left after appearing to have the intention of going straight through the intersection. It was close enough that he stopped to apologize.

I tweaked my foot a bit getting out of the way but nothing major compared to what could have been.

Today’s run was difficult and I purposefully tried to see how fast I could go. Looking forward to tomorrow’s rest day before cranking out 30 miles this weekend.

National Running Day

Happy National Running Day!

Celebrated with my favorite hill climb, actually it’s the zooming down it part that I like!

Tomorrow the NYC Marathon lottery results will be posted. I applied in March as incentive to keep running consistently… odds are slim that I’ll get in though considering demand. There are plenty of good, local marathons in the Fall so it’s a win-win either way!

How to know when to push or when to lay off… ?

This run was difficult because I didn’t get enough sleep last night - only two hours… Mentally it took a great deal of effort and I didn’t get into a rhythm until about the 5th mile.

So about this pushing thing… I have been aiming for and assuming 8 min pace but I’m finding that I *can* do pace runs a bit faster. Should I continue to do this? Is that too taxing, should I dial it back. I suppose this question will be answered, in part, based on whether todays quicker pace will adversely affect tomorrow’s 19.
